ACC at the Olympics
The athletes representing ACC schools
As we cheer on Team USA during the Olympics, the squabbles of conference rivalries fade to the background. But with ACC athletes accounting for 77 of Team USA’s 592 representatives, there’s still plenty of opportunities for school and conference pride.
Our California newcomers contributed the majority of the ACC’s Olympians, with Stanford (32) and Cal (13) accounting for nearly 60% of the athletes. The California schools make the “Atlantic” portion of the ACC’s name…inaccurate, but at least the “Coastal” portion hold true, as 36 of the 77 athletes compete is water sports like swimming and water polo.
